Renovation (Week 24)
This has been a big week at the house. Our granite countertops were installed on Monday.

Then the plumbing fixtures were installed.

Note the two flush buttons on the Toto Aquia Dual Flush Toilet (I will indeed remove the sticker before we move in).

Then they installed the refrigerator. This is the largest fridge that I've ever owned, though I know it's standard in most homes nowadays.

I like how the water filter is hidden inside.

Then they installed the dishwasher. The controls are conveniently hidden inside. Supposedly this is one of the modern quiet dishwashers.

Then they installed the Viking cooktop. It looks like a grill but it is indeed a regular gas stovetop. I decided to go with separate cooktop and range because I wanted a really good range but I didn't really care about the oven so much. So I went with a cheap, but highly rated electric oven which will be installed below the Viking gas cooktop. The architect almost had an aneurysm when I told him that I wanted separate brands for the cooktop and ovens. The specs kept on mysteriously changing back to a Viking oven.

Then they trimmed out the electrical. Ah, my beautiful Cat-6. I also had them put in speaker wire for the speakers in the livingroom.

They also started repairing the floors in the dining room and master bedroom.

We're almost finished. We're really almost finished. If it wasn't for the floors needing to be refinished we could probably move in right now. The schedule is for the floors to be sanded and finished with the first coat this upcoming week. The week after that for the base shoe to be installed and the bar-height countertop to be installed. The week after that for the last coat of paint to go up, the gas to be hooked up to the cooktop, and the mirror to be templated. The week after that the floors will get their final coat of finish and the electricians will put on the wallplates. Then we wait for the floors to dry and we'll be able to move in.
