This doesn't look real

I was testing out my new camera by taking pictures of my neighbors' flowers (because my flowers are almost all dead) and I took this picture. It looks unreal. It looks like a painting. Sometimes I'm amazed at how easy it is to take pictures of things that look real enough when you see them in real life but when you take a picture of them they transform into something else. I guess it's because the perspective changes.

New Camera

Yippie, I just bought a new camera: The Panasonic LC1. Yes, I know what you're thinking: How can you be so excited with a camera made by a company that makes cheap nine dollar walkman knockoffs? One word: Leica. The Panasonic LC1 is the same camera as the Leica Digilux 2 (minus the cool retro exterior). It doesn't have the highest pixel count, but the lens is great. And it looks, feels, and operates like any manual SLR you're used to. Here's a sample photo that's been re-sized to fit on your screen, a closeup of the original, and the original.

When you're really bored

I found a great site that is occupying my whole weekend. Well, I don't feel like doing anything else, I think I'm getting a cold, and my brain is too slow to read. The site has pictures of funny stuff like the difference in the roads between Spain and Portugal. Some are real and some are photoshopped. With some photos it's hard to tell whether it's real or not. Oh yeah, and it rots your brain.

Blowout Comb

I'm listening to Blowout Comb right now. Truely unbelievable. I love this album. It's one of those albums that I bought a long time ago, right when it came out but I didn't really get it then. I put it away and didn't listen to it for a couple of years. Then one day, several years ago, I was going through my music and I found it, listened to it, and it's now one of my favorite albums of all time. It's tight. It sounds stupid to call something tight, but I think that's the only word that acurately describes it.
